On Sunday, June 8, children and students move up to their new grade level for the 2025–26 school year. It’s also our first Summer Sunday so we’re “shell-a-brating” with a morning full of summer fun! 🐚🏖️🌺

If you're a parent, you know Promotion Sunday is not just another Sunday.

It’s the morning your kid moves up a grade, finds a new room, meets new leaders, and maybe even gets a little lost (don’t worry—we’ve got volunteers for that).

Whether you're a seasoned pro or it's your first time navigating the Promotion Sunday shuffle, these quick tips are here to help things go smoothly—for both you and your kids.

Tips To Make Promotion Sunday Go Smooth

1. Arrive early-ish (we know how mornings go)
A few extra minutes can mean less stress, better parking, and time to figure out where your kid goes now that they’ve “leveled up.”

2. Check the name tag like it’s a boarding pass
That small sticker holds the keys to where your kid is headed. If something looks off, flag down a volunteer. They’re basically the gate agents of Promotion Sunday.

3. Ask questions. Ask again. It’s okay.
No one expects you to be an expert on room changes, class names, or hallway geography. Just ask. We promise you’re not the only one confused. But we’ve made drop-off and pick-up maps … you know, just in case.

4. Expect a few “first day” jitters.
Even the most outgoing kids can feel weird about a new environment. Keep it calm, keep it cheerful—and maybe save that Connect Coffee bribe for afterward.

5. Don’t rush the drop-off. But also don’t linger.
It’s a delicate dance. Too fast feels cold. Too long feels like a hostage situation. Trust your gut—and your kid’s leaders.

6. Give yourself grace.
You might feel a little emotional. You might forget something. You might even cheer a little when the handoff is complete. All of that is valid.

7. Celebrate the Milestone
Promotion Sunday isn’t just about your kids growing up—it’s about the small victories of parenting, too. Drop-off with zero tears and all shoes on the right feet? That’s a parenting dub. Treat yourself to some Connect Coffee.
